How do I determine my ring size?

Ring sizes may be presented differently depending on the brand. Most sizes are given as the circumference in millimetres (also called the European ring size) or as the inner diameter of the ring. Occasionally the American size is used. But what’s the best way to calculate your size?

A handy way to calculate your finger’s circumference yourself is to wrap a ribbon or piece of string around it and measure the number of millimetres with a ruler. Don’t pull the ribbon or string too tight; keep it slightly loose. If, when measuring the number of millimetres, you don’t end up with a standard size as indicated in the table, choose the nearest larger size.

To determine the inner diameter yourself, you can look up the circumference in millimetres in the ring size table and find the corresponding inner diameter.

You can also find the US size in the ring size table by linking the circumference to the indicated US size.

Many jewellers can also measure your ring size for you; they have special ring moulds for this.
